Clowns Without Borders South Africa (CWBSA) is an international organisation dedicated to improving the psychosocial condition of children, families, and communities in areas of crisis through laughter and play.  We also seek to raise our society’s awareness of conditions in these areas.

Job Title: Technical Programme Officer for the Parenting Lifelong Health (PLH) parenting programmes
Job Location: Cape Town
Salary: R30 000 per month plus benefits
Start date: 01 September (or earlier)
Duration: One-year full-time contract renewable subject to performance and funding
Report to: PLH Senior Technical Advisor

The PLH Technical Programme Officer will work with a dynamic team of specialists, advisors, developers, trainers, and coaches, to support the ongoing dissemination and scale-up of the PLH programmes in sub Saharan Africa and internationally.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality delivery of the programme through the provision of programmatic guidance and leadership to implementing partners
  • Coordinate and monitor PLH deliverables in collaboration with the PLH technical programmes team
  • Manage PLH staff assigned to projects under their project portfolio
  • Periodic monitoring of PLH programme delivery progress and quality of scale up, including field visits to supervise, coordinate and monitor field level activities under their portfolio
  • Build capacity and support partners in planning, implementing and sustaining the programme, including the creation of relevant tools to support implementation
  • Timely preparation, production and submission of progress reports
  • Supervise and monitor programme adaptation under their portfolio in new contexts in order to assure programme fidelity
  • Represent PLH in meetings and act as spokesperson in various platforms including with other NGOs, government officials, institutions, corporates, major donors, etc
  • Any other duties related to PLH for Children and Teens and other CWBSA programmes as required

Requirements:

  • Minimum of Honour’s degree in relevant area (or similar experience)
  • Managing and implementing psychosocial interventions in low-resource settings
  • Human resource and financial management experience
  • Support monitoring and evaluation of programme delivery and impact
  • Work with large multi-national NGOs, national governments, and community-based organisations
  • Work in international arenas and across multi-cultural domains, especially subSaharan Africa
  • Thorough understanding of, and strong commitment to evidence-based social intervention
  • Organisational, research, and administrative skills
  • Strong writing skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe platforms
  • Communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle the pressures and stresses related to job responsibilities and find creative solutions to implementation challenges
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and partner organisations
  • Collaborative approach to project implementation
  • Driver’s license and own transport
