The Molteno Institute for Language and Literacy is literacy NGO that trains, coach and mentor primary school teachers. The Organisation also develop learner and teacher support materials (LTSM) to help enhance literacy levels of our children in South Africa.

Job Title: Sales Representative
Job Location: KwaZulu-Natal
Salary: This aspect will be discussed with successful candidates
Duration: One-year Contract

The purpose of the position is to market, promote and sell a plethora of our materials to schools and booksellers across the country. These products include Breakthrough to Literacy, Bridge to English and Vula Bula.


  • Sell Molteno Institute’s materials as listed above on assigned areas
  • Manage and Assist with Marketing campaigns in Kwazulu-Natal
  • Work with other Molteno staff to ensure the bought products are delivered to the customers in good order and on time
  • Serve customers by selling products and meeting customer needs
  • Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organising daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors
  • Adjust content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factor
  • Focuses sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of dealers
  • Submit orders by referring to price lists and product literature
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc
  • Recommend changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, making recommendations to management
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
  • Provide historical records by maintaining records on area and customer sales
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed


  • Diploma in Marketing or Sales Management
  • Three to five years’ experience in a Marketing or Sales environment
  • Self-Confidence
